Gary, a critic and biographer and the author of several books on jazz, welcomes you to his site. Here you’ll learn more about the man who’s won an unparalleled six ASCAP–Deems Taylor Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Peabody Award in Broadcasting, as well as a lifetime achievement award from the Jazz Journalists Association.

You’ll be able to read some of his published essays on music, film, and American popular culture, as well as hear and see interviews he’s given about topics as diverse as Ingmar Bergman, Bing Crosby and Spike Jones.

July 2017 – GOOD NEWS! Gary Giddins has completed the second volume of his three-volume Bing Crosby biography: “Bing Crosby, Swinging On a Star, the War Years, 1940-1946,” to be published by Little, Brown in the early fall of 2018.
