Gary, long-time columnist for the Village Voice and unarguably the world’s preeminent jazz critic, welcomes you to his site. Here you’ll learn more about the man who’s won an unparalleled six ASCAP–Deems Taylor Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Peabody Award in Broadcasting, as well as a lifetime achievement award from the Jazz Journalists Association.
You’ll be able to read some of his published essays on music, film, and American popular culture, as well as hear and see interviews he’s given about topics as diverse as Ingmar Bergman, Bing Crosby and Spike Jones.

Gary Giddins has completed the second volume of his three-volume Bing Crosby biography: “Bing Crosby, Swinging On a Star, the War Years, 1940-1946,” to be published by Little, Brown. Publication date will be announced here, along with cover art – when Little, Brown provides them!
